Justin Purdy

Justin Douglas Purdy, 35 of Sandwich, MA passed away of a long and courageous battle with substance use disorder on September 9, 2021. That did not define who he was; he was the kindest soul you could ever know. Born on July 15, 1986 in Boston, MA to Douglas and Madalyn (Maggy) Purdy. He was a 2004 graduate of Sandwich High School, attended Cape Cod Community College and Santa Barbara City College. He worked at Bobby Byrne’s Restaurant for several years. He put a lot of effort into cooking the best dishes for his family and friends. In addition to cooking, he was very passionate with expressing his creative side through wearing, and selling vintage clothing worldwide. He especially loved a good bargain.

Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers; Andrew Thomas Purdy and Emily of Greensboro, VT; Sean Andrew Purdy and Abby of Sandwich, MA. His nieces and nephews Ava Marion, DamyenKingzley and Tobin Thomas. And the light of his life, his 8 year old daughter, Willow Mae. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition, he leaves behind Christen Chilson, mother of Willow. Also, Alyssa Ivory who loved and adored him, and longtime supportive friend Kenzie McCaffrey. Justin will be forever grateful for the special friendships he had while working at Bobby’s and The Lanes.

I am no longer seen. You cannot touch me, but I am here beside you. I am still your dad, although I cannot embrace you. I am still your dad even though I cannot kiss you. I will always be a father, a brother, an uncle, a best friend to all I leave behind, especially a loving son. All I can do is look upon your precious face and smile at you from behind this eternal glass. You might not be aware of me, but make no mistake, I’m still around, “Lo” Willow. You cannot hold me, you cannot contain me, and you wouldn’t want to either because I am free in this new place, and believe it or not, I am finally perfect, I am happy, I am healthy, I am whole, and I am with you always even till the end of time.

Justin will always be remembered for his contagious laugh, beautiful smile and kind spirit. He was very proud of his mother’s longtime dedication to raising awareness for substance use through the Parents Supporting Parents support group. Donations in his memory can be made to Parents Supporting Parents, Inc. “Scholarship Fund” PO Box 992 Monument Beach MA 02553. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
