The Captain Kidd $75 gift card
Bill Crowley visited the Captain Kidd in 1959 on his first date with his future wife. He told her that he wanted to buy the place someday, and in 1970, eleven years later, he did just that. The restaurant is still owned by the same family, and we are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year.
The Captain Kidd is a Woods Hole landmark located in the heart of the village alongside Eel Pond Harbor. We have welcomed almost 100 years of guests through our doors including MBL students, WHOI scientists, fishermen, locals, and summer residents alike.
You can witness this history through our 40 foot mahogany bar, hand carved in The Bowery of New York City in 1865, and through our prominent pirate mural, painted by the famous local artist Joe Miron in 1939.
In 1973, we became the unofficial start of the famous Falmouth Road Race, and in 1985 the Atlantis captain and crew came to the Kidd to celebrate the discovery of the Titanic. We have also been the set to feature films and have hosted Woods Hole Film Festival events since its beginning in 1991.
Our waterfront dining room is one of the most stunning rooms on Cape Cod. Our outdoor piers extend over the water and offer an unmatched dining experience. You can also sip a craft cocktail on our waterside patio, or you can enjoy local oysters from our marble raw bar. As the seasons change, head over to our tavern and warm up in front of our stone fireplace with a local craft beer and a bowl of our award-winning clam chowder.
