The wonderful group at PSP helped me every step of the way. We can tell our stories openly without fear of judgment because everyone has dealt with the same things. The group helped me understand the mind of the addict and the games that they can quite successfully play. The group was very supportive in our finally deciding to ask her to leave and hold fast to our decision. There are so many ways that the families of addicts need some form of rehab, and this group provides empathy, friendship, and, most importantly, the laughter to support you through the crises.
I was in despair when I found PSP 10 years ago. Learning I was not alone was huge. The love, care & understanding taught me so much. The camaraderie of this group is second to none. So blessed to have found my second family.
Parents Supporting Parents was instrumental in helping me to understand more about Substance Use Disorder, and how it affects the person who is struggling with it, and the people around them. The group was quick to make me feel included, and open in offering their own experiences and resources. I attribute this group to helping me keep my sanity during difficult times, and feel part of my daughters 2 1/2 years successfully in recovery, is due in part, to this group. A life saver in a Sea of stigma.
When you do everything in your power to be able to hold your head up, to breathe, to live a normal life, to find this meeting and you call the meeting place and ask to talk to the facilitator. Somehow you get the courage to make that call and the voice on the other end just wraps their love around you and you are never alone again, EVER!
This group has not only become my family it is a life-line , there to pull you back to face the long road substance abuse of your loved one will bring you In good times and the bad times you have a constant embrace!!
My family was like an explosion went off and I needed support, counsel and understanding. My wife and I don’t know what we would’ve done without the help of this program and the leadership of Linda. I am very grateful for this program and I would like to continue helping families like this program has helped me.
